Are bank customers aware of this???? When a customer deposits THEIR money in a bank it is no longer legally their physical property....it becomes a financial CLAIM you hold against the bank...<br><br>The legal reality:<br>1) Ownership transfers from you to the bank the moment your cash is deposited..<br>2) Your deposit is treated as a loan from you to the bank..YOU become an UNSECURED creditor, and the bank becomes the debtor..<br>3) Instead of holding your cash in a secure vault in the bank branch where you deposited your money, the bank issues you a contractual promise (IOU) to pay you back equal value on demand...<br><br>What this means for you:<br>1) Because the bank now owns your money it can do as it pleases with it..such as investing and loaning it out to others...<br>2) While you no longer own your own money, you retain the legal right to demand your balance back at any time..<br>3) Your money is protected by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme up to a set amount as long as the bank your money is deposited with is a regulated with the FSCS...
