This is utter clickbait. The video is not 39 years long. 😡

The fact that midna's lament doesn't move, that it meanders and is unresponsive is a key part of the piece

Worth knowing for the future: Majora’s Mask is not a "reset when things go bad" mechanic, but rather a "reset to maintain what you've done" mechanic. It is difficult to fully explain why without spoiling, and it is a game worth experiencing. Highly, highly recommend it.

Also listen to Minish Cap in the future!! It's so good!

With Clock Town - Final Hours: the theme really isn't the same without the ringing bell.

I'm a little disappointed that there isn't any music from Skyward Sword, especially since it was the first Zelda game to integrate live orchestra into it

I hope there’s a part two cause He should totally listen to Zelda’s Lullaby and then listen to The Ballad of the Godess. Fi’s Farawell is also really good.

Little-known fact: the Ocarina of Time Hyrule Field theme is actually modular! Each 8-bar phrase is its own sequenced file, and the game plays them in a pseudo-random order. The phrase at 19:45 is programmed to be slotted in whenever you get close to an enemy; the phrases after that until 20:50 also play pseudo-randomly until the enemy is defeated. The phrases starting at 21:40 kick in when the sun starts setting, until eventually it becomes night time and the music stops entirely. It's wildly ambitious for the time and I don't know how many people are actually aware of it.

Oh no, you didn't get through the whole loop of the Spirit Tracks overworld!! After the second loop of the primary composition, there's an entirely different B section in a different key that adds a massive amount of depth to the piece as a whole. I hope you listen to it someday!

55:10 you know, it's funny. Revali himself represents the exact opposite of that. He's brash, he's hasty, he's arrogant, he's a perfectionist, he depreciates everyone he meets purely because he feels like out of all the people who need to always be doing something better and aiming ever higher, it's him. He never feels like he's done enough to earn his place as the hero of the Rito, and so he pours every facet of himself into "what can be better? What can be improved? What's not good enough?" all while fully knowing that he'll never be good enough to live up to his own standards.

The meloncholic, "life is short, so enjoy it" vibes of his theme aren't at all represented in his own character, but maybe they are the lessons Link learned from him. We know that Link was just as much of a perfectionist as Revali; it's why he doesn't feel like he should have a say in the world, why he doesn't talk. You hear his theme when you remember him, a rival you butted heads with, a rival you've outlived. He's gone. He never felt the freedom or the happiness that life could bring, because he never felt himself worthy to slow down and rest. Now that Link has that opportunity, perhaps he can take it. Take life not quite as seriously as he used to, since in the end, it WILL end.

Tal tal heights is really like “I paid for the whole sound chip I’m gonna use the whole sound chip”

I think that Clock Down day 3 is a real highlight in this lineup for me. It really sells that feeling of willful denial, like someone repeatedly telling themselves that everything is fine, when they know it's not

There's a VERY good reason why Midna's Lament meanders on that hopeless desperation. Won't spoil since you can easily play Twilight Princess (on the GameCube, assuming you have one), and it's very much a worthwhile experience.

It's funny that you bring up Zelda's Lullabye in comparison because, in my mind, they're very much mirror reflections of each other - innocence vs maturity, hope vs despair, movement vs stagnation.
