  The biggest horror story I ever heard about glass/paperweights was a 2000-ish eBay listing of an early Clichy millefiori original that had been discovered in a toolbox, where it was used as … A HAMMER. (It hurts me just to write that.) It was extensively fractured but apparently could be restored to some degree. As I recall, it went for over $2,000.

  I found a Kosta vase at a second hand store and I knew it was quality. I purchased it for 75 cents. It's about 6" tall, thick, clear glass, heavy base, signed Kosta, with a deeply etched girl in a clown outfit standing sideways. I've found similar pieces but never this exact vase.

  I have collected glass since inheriting my grandmother&apos;s collection 50 years ago. <br>The mystery to me is a small teardropped shaped vase. It is gray in color with a slanted mouth. The color is flat but a bit frosty feeling on the outside. It looks ceramic, but it is glass. I&apos;ve always wondered if it was piece of Murano or at least good Italian glass.

  In 1972 while studying at UC Berkeley I saw the shops on the south side of campus closing as hippies and poor people scared insurance companies. One traditional dress shop was closing out its inventory and I promised my girlfriend that our poor student budget could afford a couple of nice dresses. And, as we walked in, a clerk at the door mentioned that the store owner was also selling his ceramic art collection upstairs. Pablo Picasso was still alive and for some reason his Madoura platters, vases and pitchers were not getting attention. The bird pitcher I bought for $80 dulled some from exposure to sunlight, but I had it appraised twenty years later for $7,000 and twenty years after that gave it to my son, who I think might have sold it for $15-$16,000. Comparable ceramics now sell for $30,000 to $45,000.

  What a brilliant video. &nbsp;Last year I was in a local op shop and brought a nice sugar bowl for $10AUD because it was labelled uranium glass. &nbsp;Then, naturally, I had to get a black light to see it glow. &nbsp;I had placed it with other green glass pieces on a shelf so imagine my delight when other pieces began to glow as well! &nbsp;Some frosted green glass I inherited from my mother - a cute little cigarette jar with ashtray lid in the shape of a house lit up with a comforting green glow, and a posy bowl with a glass frog lit up too. &nbsp;The rest - 1970s art pieces - didn&apos;t glow which didn&apos;t surprise me. &nbsp;Thanks for validating my lifelong love of glass collecting. &nbsp;Though your chance of ever finding a wine glass with a secret toast to Bonnie Prince Charlie in Australia is probably zero, I will persist.

  I went to Corning last month. &nbsp;Didn’t have time to go the museum but looked in the store. &nbsp;<br>A glass ball w blown glass flowers inside is about 19,000 USD. &nbsp;I was floored.

  I have a large relish tray, in the form of a leaf, the underside has 3 different forms of glass transparency and texture. The main design is a cloudy white veining. The lesser is a textured clear and a clear base. Just a great thrift find, to serve olives and such on.
