  My mother's button tin is one of my most cherished possessions.  I am a lifelong button collector.  I love it when I find a bag or tin of old buttons I can sort through at an estate sale, rummage sale or thrift shop.

  My Grandmother, born 1899 was a seamstress in NYC. I have a tin of her buttons and my mother’s buttons. You bet I’m going to look through my tins now!  Thanks 🙋‍♀️

  i AM 89 AND HAVE BEEN GOING TO AUCTIONS FOR YEARS.  BUT WITH ALL THE BUTTONS I HAVE I HAVE NEVER CHECKED THEM IN THE WAY YOU SHOWED.  GUESS I BETTER GET GOING BEFOR I REACH 90

  Just to find a tin of old buttons for sale is a win for me!  I never see that sort of thing anymore, and if I see old buttons for sale, they cost a mint!

  I have my grandma’s button tin!  We used to string them and so did my kids.  Some are still on string.  I love the way the buttons smell and am sure I have some worth a buck or two.  I don’t plan to sell them.  I have a grandchild due soon and think they’ll like looking at and stringing buttons as much as I did.

  Craft stores and sewing supplies stores charge ridiculous prices for plastic discs with holes. I go to thrift stores and look for an old garment that has the kind of buttons I need. Less money for better quality.

  I remember as a 4 year old I loved to play with my mum's button box  (CIRCA 1950). She was a seamstress by trade during the war and had amassed a goodly number of buttons.....all piled into a tall National Dried  Milk tin.....I played many happy hours with that tin....❤

  None of these are in ordinary button bottles or tins! They were all pretty expensive even new. Most of us come from homes where only cheap buttons were affordable!!! I've certainly never come across any of these and I've been collecting old button tins for years!

  I found a gold thimble in one at a garage sale. Also, found a vintage British nit comb. Had to look that up to figure out what it was!
