  I think that the current culture prioritizes the "self" so much that it forgot how to make room for others. Then, we are wondering why so many people are lonely.

  Probably an unpopular opinion: unless your cause for divorce is abuse or infidelity, your marriage is a failure. I'm tired of this coping calling it a graduation or act of self love. You and your spouse failed at marriage. Learn to move on and grow from it so you won't repeat the failure, but stop trying to justify it.

  My husband and i have had a very difficult year and both of us have brought up divorce a few months back. We both realized we didn&apos;t want that and that our relationship is no where close to being unrepairable. That night of thinking of splitting was hell and i hope we only build a happier partnership going forward.

  As a child of divorce, it shattered my life. <br>Honestly, my parents were not right for each other, but the divorce was brutal and long, it traumatized me. And it&apos;s not a word i use lightly.<br>Though even if it was calm, it would have still changed the course of my life. It is what it is, and I don&apos;t know how to pick up the pieces of my life

  The way a lot of these women talk about men, it&apos;s like they hate them but they just have to be with them because it&apos;s a primal need they can&apos;t overcome and they just have to be with men against their will. If you ever go about saying &quot;you can barely stand men&quot; but want to end up with a man, guess what, your subconscious disdain for men will never go away and it will show up in your interactions with said &quot;perfect&quot; man

  I got married at 23, at the time, there were family and friends that were shocked and nervous on our behalf, but we both felt confident in our choice. 1 because at that point we had been together 6 years. 2 because we had gone through premarital counselling intensives with 2 different councillors before and through engagement. Lastly and probably the most important, we communicated A LOT… about everything, including our duties, goals, what our expectations, hopes, desires etc of marriage would be. By the time we had our first child, and stumbled into our first real rough patch in marriage, we were able to be honest with one another about the help we both needed and went back to counselling. Through it all we continued to choose one another, our family as a whole, and God above all else.

  I’m sorry but comparing your divorce to a graduation is a cope. They are completely different. A graduation is something that’s expected after completing the necessary education. You don’t (or at least shouldn’t) go into marriage expecting divorce. Her explanation didn’t sit right with me but that’s just my opinion.

  If you have children and you get a divorce just because you’re “unhappy” and you did nothing to try to fix it, you’re lame! <br><br>I know a couple who every 6 weeks go to couples therapy and have for years. They talk through anything that’s been on their mind! Big or small they talk it through. They’re the happiest couple I’ve ever met! They have a beautiful family, and they’re not ashamed to talk about things! They are one of my biggest inspirations as a wife.
