Showed low-level potential leaching of boron, vanadium, and aluminum (all below health limits). Remineralization/alkalinization stage raised pH to ~9.7 but added only small amounts of calcium and magnesium, below WHO recommended levels; performance depends heavily on contact time and usage. Certified under NSF 58 for TDS reduction; the RCC7AK-BLK variant also carries additional NSF certifications (asbestos, barium, fluoride, lead) and iSpring publishes extra test data for arsenic V, cysts, and turbidity. Filtered water tasted and smelled clean. Usability: Traditional tank-based under-sink RO. Installation is straightforward and overall build quality is solid, though minor O-ring issue caused small leak in testing. Everyday use is easy with fast faucet flow and plenty of water for larger households. Includes a leak detection valve and a clear sediment filter housing. Filter replacements require some manual effort and there is no filter life indicator. Customer feedback is very positive; the most common complaints are minor leaks and missing parts. Wastewater: Estimated ~3–4 gallons wasted per gallon purified (typical for a non-pumped system). Costs: Upfront cost around $200–$240; annual filter costs around $100–$110. 1-year warranty. Ratings: Filtration 3.39, Usability 4.75, Cost 4.76 → Final rating 3.94/5.00. APEC ROES-50 Essence Filtration: Removed most contaminants to 100%, with only a few exceptions (in some of those, it performed slightly better than iSpring). Showed no signs of potential leaching. Certified under NSF 58 for TDS reduction, but APEC does not publish detailed contaminant reduction data — not even for TDS. Filtered water tasted and smelled clean. Everyday use is easy with fast faucet flow and enough water for larger households. Filter replacements require some manual effort and there is no filter life indicator. Customer feedback is very positive; the most common complaints are leaks. Wastewater: Estimated ~5–7 gallons wasted per gallon purified (typical for a non-pumped system). Ratings: Filtration 4.42, Usability 4.5, Cost 4.99 → Final rating 4.55/5.00. Bottom Line The APEC ROES-50 Essence outperformed overall mostly thanks to no detected leaching.
