The identity change is hardest. No longer having food as a coping mechanism sucks but also I never wanna be that person ever again!

Weight going up, but being leaner is still a huge mind game. It’s really wild to see the scale at a bigger number, but I’m fitting into clothes that I fit into at my thinnest which is thirty pounds lighter than I am. I’ve been in recomp for two years. It’s a very slow process, but rewarding.

This was really timely. I recently decided the goal of loosing fat wasn't motivating enough and decided to focus more on gaining muscle. Thanks for the tips.

This is brilliant and timely for me. It’s a great reminder for me that at 60, what worked at 45 doesn’t cut it anymore, literally. The biggest thing that’s hit home listening to you is that I won’t be 45 again 😢but I can adapt and move forward 😁

At my leanest and most shredded, I didn't see I needed more rest and more calories. I was on that deficit and training cycle for so long and didn't know it was time to shift my strategy and eating. My periods were off, I was waking up at 3 am, I was so cold and could barely walk through the grocery store some days. Once I upped my calories, all that went back to normal, but I needed more actual recovery. I felt like I was being a princess if I took a day off, so even if I wasn't lifting, I was doing light cardio. I really burned out and had a slow, but definite, rebound. This video was great 🫶 I needed to hear this stuff again because I'm recomping now.

I appreciate the recognition that different seasons (literally) mean different eating habits. We need to give ourselves grace. On the other hand, FINE, I will finally start tracking. You’ve obviously had a conversation with my conscience. 😂

when i first wanted to lose weight, i thought about it as "im gonna loose some weight for a few month and then i can keep on with my life as it was again" But the more i got into fitness i finally realized it will never be a "i quit bad habits for a month" but rather a journey of changing your life and habits for good and to keep them up without feeling like u are on a diet. And she is absoulutly right allow yourself what you crave. The one or two times of bad eating choices do less damage then trying to restrict yourself to the point you cave in and end up quitting your healthy habits all along.

I have worked my diet to a really good place now where I am not hungry all the time while still being in a deficit, I have become addicted to the gym once a day but in the last few weeks I have started to listen to my body on what it needs like more or less sleep, back off exercise a bit here and there and having more or less macros in the deficit. I think listening to our bodies is so important. Loved this upload because it really matters!!

This video is actually a goldmine of sound advice. Long term adoption of habits like consistent training and eating is so important in maintaining what you might achieve short term. I feel there is another point somewhere about dealing with set backs like injuries and illnesses linked with your ‘not starting again’ point and also strategies for dealing with those times when you just fall out of love with training and how to get through that. If you exercise year after year, you won’t be at your peak all the time and life and training has ebbs and flows.

I don’t even weigh myself because I don’t want to get freaked out. I have found that seeing my progress in the mirror, photos, and in clothing fit is beneficial for me. I just eat more protein and produce, cut down on the processed crap/sugar, increased my water intake, do a variety of workouts 4-5 times a week with some strength training, and the changes were noticeable. Also focusing on stress management. I have been way more mindful of my nutrition and am more intentional of what I put in my body because the added calories on a consistent basis isn’t worth reversing all my effort and discipline.

I feel like it was still difficult for me because I was technically a normal to slightly overweight BMI at the beginning so I really had to push. I have been obese for a few years of my life, got down to a normal weight for a few years, then I started a stressful/busy job as a single parent and regained 25 pounds! I found out the hard way that I couldn’t just exercise and eat like a horse like I used to—I was now older and the weight was much harder to shed. Nutrition is the key.

So important to set a primary focus! My first phase was primary focus of build 7 pounds muscle so I had to accept the harsh reality that I would be in calorie surplus. Now I’m in second phase and trimming up or “cutting” now that I have the muscle gains I wanted.
