I live in a neighborhood where most houses are over a century old. Like most people, I think it's natural for a home to look dated. It's a residence, not a pair of slacks.

You see image after image, but only occasionally does one match what is being said. I would have much preferred hearing the narrator say, "Here, we see . . . ." The narrative has substance. Too bad Jerry Davis didn't put more effort into matching it with the video.

I don't like all of those plants in front of a porch! The walkway lined with gravel, and along a porch, are pretty. Those clumps of growth look gaudy.

This is all very stupid. Now you have to rip the whole house apart because it looks aged. What if the owner likes it the way it is? Maybe those plastic shatters are giving the house more appeal than without. Heavy wooden shutters cannot hang on contemporary houses. They were designed for stone or brick houses, which can easily support them, so the vinyl alternative is a very good option. They are not to be functional, but to give more appeal to the house, because without them the house would look, let's say, crappy. Besides, maintaining heavy wooden shutters is very costly, while vinyl shutters add no extra cost; given current prices, that matters. Also, these ideas are somebody else's ideas; perhaps the owner can decide what she or he likes. To begin with, the houses would look more original; instead, everyone will be rushing to get the light fixtures as prescribed, and the result will be the cookie-cutter effect again.
