As a history teacher is my moral duty to never let this be forgotten. For this NEVER to be done to anyone ever again.

11:20 “That’s our language.” Those three words hit me harder than seeing this scene for the first time. It truly drove home just how personal this scene could possibly be to some people.

"Get it all on record now - get the films - get the witnesses - because somewhere down the track of history some bastard will get up and say that this never happened" -Dwight D. Eisenhower (1945)

After visiting one of the first camps liberated by the Americans, General Eisenhower addressed the press in tones of cold fury, wanting every available soldier to see it, saying that while the troops may not know what they are fighting for, this showed what they were fighting against.

This should be mandatory viewing in ALL highschools.

I read where the actors who portrayed the Americans were never allowed to visit this set. This is their reaction to seeing the set for the first time.

My dad was in the Air Force and we were stationed in Germany for 3 years in the late 70's. Overall it was an amazing experience and I got to see a lot of interesting and historic stuff around Europe. Lots of castles, ancient Greek and Roman ruins, we even got to go into East Berlin through Checkpoint Charlie at the wall. There was one thing that I wish I hadn't seen, though, and it's stuck with me throughout my life. We took a tour of Dachau and it was horrific. It was only 35 years or so since the camp had been discovered and liberated and you could literally feel the awfulness and evil in the air.

The scene that really hits me is when the prisoner kisses and hugs the soldier. That really hits me in the feels. 😞

What gets me is when Winters first gets out of the jeep and sees Bull crouched, silent, and trying not to lose it.

Winters knows if Bull is rattled, it's a bad, bad, bad situation.

The title of the episode is: "Why We Fight"
This is the answer.

My grandfather's unit liberated one of these camps. They started passing out their rations, their medic stopped them pointing out that those rations would overwhelm their bodies and kill them.

Easily the most difficult episode of the series to watch.
