  What you have with an all black outfit, I have with an all white outfit, lol. I feel so ethereal when I pair all my white items together, it works all the time. I have a lot of white lace pieces, a big white tiered skirt, white blouses, and some basics that are white, and BOOM, I look (and feel) like a fairy. And who doesn't like to cross paths with real-life fairies on a random Tuesday.

  For the "big top big bottom" formula, I feel like another thing that makes it work is to play with different textures ( as seen in some of your examples ) like flowy/sheer top with wide leg jeans or graphic tee shirt with flowy skirt etc...

  I have a white eyelet skirt I bought this summer at a thrift store and haven’t worn it all summer. So now, I am planning on a chunky sweater, tall boot, and white skirt fit based on your rec, so cute…thank you!

  1000% agree with the sneakers to dress down outfits. I tend to wear skirts/dresses to work to seem professional/look like I know what I'm doing, but I wear high top Converse most days because they're comfortable to work in AND make me more approachable since I primarily wear black. I've been told I'm more intimidating in boots. 😅

  56 yr old fan coming to you from the south (NW Arkansas). I’ve long since thrown out the white after Labor Day “rule”, but growing up in south Arkansas it was warm enough to wear summer clothes 75% (+) of the time. I always thought of it as a nudge or an excuse in temperate climates to get people to move on to the fall and winter color palettes. If we didn’t have a date to point to then (oh my God) how would we ever possibly figure out it was fall? &nbsp;I mean, in reality it was still in the 80’s pretty frequently in October and November and something December. Oddly enough, at least in my circles, there was an exception for “winter white” which was a natural light wool color that was especially popular as we got close to and for a while after the holidays. It was usually accompanied with a pale blue and silver accessories and was a great color combination throughout Winter until mid to late February. I still love off white and powder blue in the winter. Winter white (off white or natural white) wasn’t really used until after Thanksgiving. Labor Day to Thanksgiving the only white I wore was if it was a t-shirt and then it was usually a graphic tee with jeans. It’s sad that I bought into that for so long. <br><br>Anyway, ❤ your videos and I always find inspiration from them!

  A brief search explains the no white after Labor Day came from the gilded age, partly as a “fashion rule” made up by elites to mark their status (all the lightweight white cottons/linens were worn during their posh summers at tennis tournaments, garden parties, etc) but was also practical as winters were obviously colder but also dirtier, therefore requiring a switch to heavier, darker fabrics. <br>Honestly, i love white in summer but it makes the most sense to me in winter (as long as you can keep it clean.) When it starts snowing, white just feels appropriate
