  I saw the original version of this tape.  The excuse we had at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute was that Gene Roddenberry was there personally (sometime between 1973-77; can't remember exactly when).  The entire building (comprised of 5 large lecture halls, could accommodate 2500+ if memory serves) was "sold" out (but no money was charged).  The marvels of technology allowed a simulcast to  all the other lecture halls via closed circuit tv, while Gene narrated with some stories here and there.  Everybody had fun.  What a night to remember.

  I remember seeing this blooper reel at a Star Trek convention (where I bought a Tribble, that I have to this day) way back in 1983 in Chicago.

  Thanks for posting this. I've watched this blooper reel many times since I was a kid. My mom was a big Trekkie and we would see the blooper reel shown at the conventions going back to the 70s. For all the times I've seen it, this is the most clear audio and video I've ever seen of this. I can finally make out some of those lines I never got before, like those scenes where Shatner is muttering to himself. One memory I have of the Blooper reel is that in the 70's they were still using a film reel to play the video and in that scene where Kirk gets the arrow pulled out of him, they were able to  play the film in reverse and they showed the guy shoving the arrow into Kirk. That bit cracked everyone up. And again, thanks for posting this restored version. It's amazing!

  I saw this around 1973 at New York Tech on Long Island.  It was on 16 mm film and was SUPER CLEAN,  COLORFUL AND SHARP!   It was like it came out of the camera!!    GREAT!!  Thanks for posting!!

  Even though Paramount banned the bloopers, That didn't stop the sellers. I still saw them being sold at Trek conventions up through the early 90s.  I have this same VHS tape I got from one of the Creation cons in 1992 and it came with Next Gen outtakes along with TOS.   I first saw the bloopers in 1975 when they were sold at Trek cons on Super 8mm Sound and 16mm. There were 3 reels that cost about 50.00 each at the time. They were dubbed off the copy that Gene R was taking on lecture tours.  I still have my Super 8mm prints from the 70s. They were a big hit when I would run them in school after hours. A few parents complained but oh well.... There were even bootleg TV prints sold in Super 8mm of selected TOS episodes in the 70s as well.
