  Baseball's Hall turned into a joke after the Mitchell Report came out. They just decided to pick who the rules would apply to. Ortiz failed a test, and he's in. Beltran got caught cheating, and he's in. They either need to apply the morality rules to everybody or nobody.

  Baseball's hall of fame is voted on by people that have never played a professional game. It is essentially a popularity contest. If they like you, you get in. If they don't, then you don't. What other explanation is there for Eddie Murray to not be a first ballot Hall of Famer? He had a famously contentious relationship with the writers. David Ortiz was a suspected user for years, but got in even after failing a test simply because he was extremely popular with the writers. The commissioner even made excuses for it after all the others got blacklisted. Ortiz was always very cordial and friendly with them, and was extremely popular with fans. For Sosa, the corked bat was strike one. Failing the test was strike two. Forgetting how to speak English at the hearing was strike three. Sosa made the wrong move at every juncture. His public relations team definitely dropped the ball. Guilty or not, he lied and did everything physically possible to make himself look guilty. I bled Cubs blue for most of my life, and I was a huge fan of Sosa, but he shouldn't be in. I don't care about steroids. I care about the dishonesty.

  McGwire & Sosa were pawns ♟️ for Selig & the MLB. They brought baseball ⚾️ back(even if enhanced) and more than likely Selig & co knew but chose to ignore it because of the revenue it brought. And after that, they were casted as pariahs.
