  In 80s I listened Technics SL-Q200. What a great machine. Pure joy to handle and to listen. Still have it in cellar, nicely preserved and waiting for better times to pull it out again. Wishing you all pure joy with music.

  I own a Linn LP12 with the Lingo Outboard Power Supply,  limited production Ittok LVIII Tonearm and ZYX Yatra Cartridge.  This set-up, when paired with the proper ancillary gear will make your jaw drop and keep it there.  The Linn has been doing that to me going on 30 years!  To repeat, as a word of caution (and as our video narrator put so well), the gear you pair it with is Vital!

  Still happy with my AR-ES1, purchased new in 1986.   Had it serviced once, replaced the belt several times over the years.  Use a Shure V-15 cartridge, with M-97 replacement stylus.   As a second table, and to play my classical 78s, I bought a ProJect Debut III some years ago.  Both tables serve me very well.

  I&apos;m running a old 70&apos;s completely rebuilt Hitachi PS-38. Got rid of the practical board rapped in the old faded laminate with a solid piece of Oak routed out for the components with all new wiring and the internals for the speed selector and power switch lever. I also made a new dust cover out of the same Oak that works as a frame display for what ever album cover I&apos;m playing. The plater was trued for flatness and balance. About half of all that work was making it look nice again as it was truly showing it&apos;s age but I paid only $125 so I had a lot of room dollar wise just for dressing back up to look nice on my console with the rest of my mid-level system. Since I did all the wood working and wiring myself it&apos;s a little harder to quantify the value of my own labor for my own personal enjoyment. The wood slab itself was a piece of American Black Walnut &nbsp;<br>that was worth around 200 itself but was a leftover piece to me so I hand nothing invested in it. Still with all the new wiring and switches and a set of new Iso Acoustics feet I have about $500 and expendables. So the player itself has a $650 putting at the higher end of what this video suggested as the starting &quot;sweet spot&quot; for new listeners and right at the &quot;pro audio front door&quot;. Yet my turntable is now up their with the price point of those listing between $1000 to $1500. I choose to go with the iFi ZEN Phono external phono amp rather them my receivers built in phono as it eliminates any hum from the receiver and it&apos;s heat buildup. This also allowed me to choose the Denon DL-103 for my needle cartridge by using the iFi&apos;s MC High setting. At $400 it is not a cheep cartridge by any means but it&apos;s not crazy high either. With the iFi ZEN Phono 3 costing $250 and another $100 in cables I&apos;m into my complete phono set up for $1400. A complete High-end custom unit and the external components<br>that puts my whole phono setup into the Top end level for mid level pricing. That Denon cartridge was a grate choice for my older Blues and Jazz records tracking through without a tun of crackles and pops from the older LP&apos;s and brings the warm tones right to the forefront yet still play new pressings just grate. Well worth doubling the price of that 2M blue and will last a lot longer.<br><br>Over all this is a pretty good video for anyone that has no clue about turntables but I grew up with them and have had cheap ones as well as really nice ones. This custom refurbishing I did if you had to pay for the labor would definitely stick you into that down payment on a used car level but if you have the tools and enjoy DYI projects look into refurbishing an older one. My player gets a lot of complements from guests and still plays all my LP&apos;s better for about 1/2 the price.

  I just got a used (but in perfect conditions) project debut carbon espirit (the one with the acrylic platter and the ortofon red) for a 150€ as my first turntable... Super happy that I was happy to afford it for the same price as the entry level Audio-Technica, paired with my WiiM amp pro and my triangle comete (bought 40% off) it sounds amazing, I already have a huge record collection (my parents) so I don&apos;t even have to invest in records for now although I had to clean them all 😂😂😂

  <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1WDLEPlwjEk&amp;t=533">8:53</a> &nbsp;“ it plays all 3 speeds” There are actually 4 speeds, so it simply just “plays 3 speeds” and although it’s obvious to most it would be worth mentioning that you’ll need a different type of stylus for 78rpm records so for simplicity of use between speeds you really need another cartridge, stylus and head shell too 👍 Edit, to answer question below ( because for some reason comments keep disappearing) Sure thing, they are 16 2/3, 33 1/3, 45, 78 👍

The Tone arm is the Biggest Difference when moving to the 3000 Price and After or at &nbsp;5000 is when you Have Beautiful And Performance in a Lifetime Package and even Auto Lift &nbsp;at the end Which is an Add that is Well Worth that Cost to ANY AND EVERY TT.<br>After the 5000 Price Point is the Stopping point for Anyones realm of Hearing and then you are Just paying for &quot;itty bitty&quot; amounts of Difference that is the Deminished Sound, Virtually ZERO Difference on up the Perfect Ear Ladder! &nbsp;Now once you have maxed the Turntable He Also doesn&apos;t talk about the Next Awesome Sound Improvement With Adjustability to Your Preference and Phono Pre Amp anywhere up to the 3k Range with Unlock Vinyl Nirvana, &nbsp;Don&apos;t believe that , &nbsp;Try a Parasound JC3plus in your System for the usual 2 to 4 week Return Period and make your decision! &nbsp;You Haven&apos;t Spent a thing, &nbsp;But after you Hear tha Big Time Sound Quality Difference, &nbsp;most likely you will Keep it.<br>I Can Attest to 100% of this &nbsp;Information as I Started at the 500 range Minimal Quality Cartridge and am Done now after Hearing and then Removing the End Game Parts and Pre Amp! &nbsp;I guarantee you will be able to Tell the Difference! &nbsp;<br>Again after that is Virtually NO Improvement in Sound.<br>And Yes you will need components that are on Pace with your TURNTABLE or you are wasting money way back at the 1000 all in Stage! <br>So while I agree with most of his Picks the Rest is &nbsp;Dependent on your total System which is Called Synergy!

  I have amusic hsll mmf2.2 that&apos;s is better than te thorens td165 iPad inthe 70s. same antiskate but has 😊 tobe arm that allows me to put a acrylic &nbsp;platter mat on top of yhe nice heavy platter and keep the vta perfect &nbsp;and the mmf2.2 &nbsp;has a great tone arm. and with a strobe disc perfect speed
