The auto fade option is actually super useful if you work with instrument recordings or frequently chop samples in audio. Without it you’ll often hear an annoying click at the start and end of each audio clip.

If you record a vocal into an analogue mixing desk, you can route the output of the desk to your audio interface for recording. The vocalist can listen to the backing track and his or her live vocal with 0 latency by using headphones from the desk. You just have to make sure that the backing track is going into the desk and routed to the headphones and not to the output being recorded. One way to do this would be to have the fader at zero for the backing track channel and the PFL button selected. 0 latency is the holy grail for recording vocals.

Great info! The trade off with going higher in the samplerate when looking for lower latency is that a higher samplerate will also increase CPU usage. Taking away the ability to go lower with the buffersize.

I'm an active Live user since version 6. I work professionally as a game and theater composer and a sound designer, I also played live sets. And today I learned audio clips can be quantised just like midi clips (cmd+U). :face-turquoise-covering-eyes: Thank you friend for this knowledge

Great video! Something really clicked for me lately with Ableton where it’s become the immensely fun musical playground I’d always hoped it would be. Videos like this are so helpful so thanks for taking the time to make it!
