Q Secretly Manipulated Voyager’s Journey Home

"Don't provoke the Borg" was the advice Q gave to his son. My own theory is the Q are using humanity to fight the Borg because the know what a disaster it would be if the Borg somehow managed to assimilate a member of the Continuum. Their attempt to find the Q Continuum could even have been how they stumbled upon fluidic space, and the reason Quinn was imprisoned within a simple block of ice, instead of technology which would have attracted the Borg's attention.

Q is playing chess, and his move with Voyager was to take the Queen

I really miss the periods where writers had clever well planned out long term story elements.

I have a crackpot theory that the Continuum was giving Q his own test when they assigned him to test Humanity. Say, challenge him while not allowing him to be too direct in the grand scheme.

Startfleet's mass-produced anti-Borg warship designs and R&D tech were also useful against the Dominion war.

Q didn't introduce the Federation to Borg in "Q Who".  He revealed the Borg to the Federation.  The Borg already knew about the Federation, as it was noted in that episode that planets in the region Q had transported them to featured the same surface scarring as the Federation outposts which had been destroyed by a "mysterious force" in "The Neutral Zone".  Ergo, the Borg had already attacked and assimilated Federation personnel. The Federation didn't know about the nature of the threat, until Q showed them.  Given the damage at Wolf 359, imagine if Star Fleet had absolutely no advanced warning.

I kind of love it, Q giving them the route to have it lead to Janeway messing with her own past to inevitably restrict the borg's mobility through the galaxy (and potentially reducing them as a threat for everyone) is a fantastic cap stone to his introducing Starfleet to the borg all those years ago in TNGs Q Who, which could make the Endgame mentioned in the episode's title actually Q's Endgame, and not Janeway's

Well crap dude, you want to play butterfly effect. Q is responsible for the Dominion War. Because if Q hadn't caused contact with the Borg, Wolf 359 doesn't happen. Ben Sisko's wife doesn't die. Sisko doesn't get posted to a backwater station. Sisko isn't running Deep Space 9 who knows if the wormhole gets discovered.

Wolf 359 also spawned the shift towards more weapons and defenses on federation ships, which ended up being critical for the Dominion War.

It was Q's way to thank Janeway for helping him with his son.

My hypothesis is that the Q continuum wanted the Borg to have a taste of their own medicine - that is temporal warfare, technological superiority, and taking (or destroying) everything in their path. Admiral Janeway delivered all three in spades.
