This was my first laptop! My boss told to get the laptop I wanted, I told him that would be very expensive, he told me that that was irrelevant, so I ordered the Compac Elite with full top-specs and two spare batteries. It was an amazing machine. For two years I travelled almost full-time around the world for my job. With this laptop as my companion. I have repaired it several times, possible as you could open it and get at the parts. Especially the batteries sometimes got stuck. Once I got help from the pool-technician in a hotel in Florida, together fighting the release mechanism of the batteries, late at night. And buying him a drink afterwards. Nice to get those memories back!

OMG! I worked at Compaq, on the very assembly line those computers were made on. I haven't seen one of those in 30 years!

There's a ton of fake Restoration videos online. This ain't one of them. I had to advance into the display repair to believe and the moment you mentioned you had to purchased a replacement display and I saw you restoring the battery you got my trust because it's impossible to repair these displays in this day and age 👍

I used to work on Compaqs. Good machines in their day, they were not the fastest but they were reliable and nice to work on. It's nice to see one being saved.
