Russian Army's Loyalty Just Turned Into a Security Problem. | Pfarrer & Smart

Moscow declared Kostiantynivka captured, then lost the general tied to that victory claim while his brigade was still fighting around the city. A Ukrainian drone strike hit the command post, disrupting leadership as the wider Donbas advance was already under pressure. The deeper danger is what happens when battlefield reports tell the Kremlin a battle is over while the troops are still fighting it. Ammunition, reinforcements and supply routes depend on headquarters knowing what its units actually hold. Repeated command losses make false reports harder to correct, while strikes farther behind the front put additional pressure on logistics, drone production and the weapons needed to sustain the offensive. Freshly manufactured drones and missiles appearing in combat only days later also show how quickly new production is being pushed toward the battlefield. That pressure does not stop at the front line. Senior officers are being exposed, formations are losing experienced leadership, weapons programs are struggling with reliability, and Moscow has fewer easy ways to replace each loss. When battlefield claims outrun battlefield reality, the bill arrives in men, ammunition, routes and time.
