  At the time, the main evening news on the BBC was at 9 o'clock and this programme was on BBC2 at the same time, hence the title.

  OH!!! An often overlooked series with Rowan Atkinson is "The thin blue line".. If you want to see him as a police officer a bit more I can highly recommend.

  I’d forgotten just how good Pamela’s impressions were- in case you didn’t know most of Pamela’s appearances were impressions of famous British tv presenters,👍🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🇬🇧❤️.

  At <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0ipdbK7dR5w&amp;t=529">8:49</a> and in the stout discussion the presenter is a spoof of Janet Street-Porter, a ubiquitous tv personality of the 80s. It’s not that much of an exaggeration.

  They did a couple of sketches based on the audience discussion style shows and early on, when the cast weren’t so recognised, Rowan Atkinson stood up to do his bit and one of the BBC security guards tried to throw him out before it was explained to him what was going on

  In the police sketch the being transferred to the SPG is a reference to the Special Patrol Group a fairly controversial branch of the British police who were frequently accused of excessive violence (sometimes fatal) and racism amogst ither things.
