If you have ever played “Civilization”, the one major factor that influences how well your game is going to go is your starting location

I wish school geography was taught like that, but there was only a tiny fraction of this at my school, only a hint of how geography matters for economics.

Also to add ww2 is a huge success for American Hagemony, why? Britain went bankrupted, USSR just lost 20 million of it's people, Japan+Germany+Italy lost the war, France got occupied, China went into civil war. Basically all of the top great power at the time lost their power so much and guess who filled the void?

At this point I believe there is a global conspiracy to pretend Australia doesn't exist

I get the point that people often exaggerate Americas decline, but the video skips some real issues. Decline isn’t always a sudden crash - it can be slow and relative. The US might still be growing, but at the same time losing global share and influence.
Things like rising debt, inequality, political polarization and demographic shifts are serious problems. Strong institutions and public trust matter just as much as money and military power - and those foundations dont look unshakable right now.
So instead of calling decline a "myth", it makes more sense to admit its a real risk. Not guaranteed, but serious enough that the US needs reforms and renewal.

Should have mentioned Argentina. She should have been a superpower a long time ago. She has the same geographic benefits as the US (good fertile land, vast intersecting interior water ways, natural protected borders, access to the ocean), but show what 100 years of poor policy making can do to an economy.

This video explained why US was successful but failed to reason why it will continue to be successful. Just because it is gifted doesn’t mean it won’t turn on itself and squander everything.

Fun fact: The Sahara did not exist for a lot of Egyptian history. The African Humid period lasted for about 10,000 years from ~12000 BCE to 3,000 BCE. The Sahara was an extension of the savanna during this period
