Beautiful tool. And one of the best shot and edited "make a tool" videos I've ever seen.

I've known those as Lowell Pattern Vises, they are common in the jewelers trade. And useful for pulling wires

The only thing about the version you made that i think could be improved upon outside of the knurling for the handle at some point, would be the "mating surfaces" of the jaws themselfs, now they seem to meet at a "point" at the top, which might cause them to leave markings if you tighten too much or if the item you're holding is softer than the jaws themselves.
Making them meet on either a flatter and equal angle might help with that.

I would also consider with the current jaw-angles to round out the "top" of each jaw surface, so that they don't meet at a "point" if you do indeed want to keep the current angle of the mating surfaces.

Mind you, I am NOT a machinist, nor do i work in a tool-shop, these are just the thought of a guy who've seen far too many tool-videos on Youtube with little real-life experience on the matter when it comes to this.

Dear god i'm sounding like such a wannabe know-it-all when i read this back to myself...

Dude, don't take this the wrong way, but you sound like G-man gave up on finding Gordon Freeman and started his working in his own eastern European machine shop

The only thing I would add is some knurling on the handle part. Well built!
edit: 19:35 welp nvm
