  One thing I will say about microplastics - Metal objects <b>also</b> leach into liquids, so its a case of picking your poison. I work in a trace metals testing lab and we have to be immensely careful about the tools we use and the conditions we&apos;re in. Something as simple as touching a doorhandle will get nickel in the samples. Having the air con on gets aluminium in the samples (aluminium is DREADFUL for getting EVERYWHERE). Sometimes we can&apos;t use borosilicate glass because boron.
