I have a suggestion to everyone if you are using VA Healthcare. Document everything by using the messaging system in My HealtheVet. 2 times in the last 3 months at in person appointments I asked my PCP for a refill on a medication and she didn't do it. I messaged the pharmacy through My HealtheVet and it was taken care of in a day.

If you're going to any kind of appointment, send a general message to the doctor describing what you want to talk about in your appointment, listing your symptoms, pain severity, etc. ALL OF THE MESSAGES YOU SEND, END UP IN YOUR MEDICAL RECORDS. That way you don't have to worry about the doctor not documenting something you told them.

This isn't any different than when we were in the service. If it isn't documented, it didn't happen. SO MAKE SURE AND DOCUMENT IT YOURSELF. Don't depend on someone else to do it. YOU ARE YOUR OWN BEST ADVOCATE. Stay in the fight brother and sisters!

It gets old being a professional patient. When you have two doctors appointments each week it gets old.

Nah. I got my 90% TDIU P&T and when I went to my new VA doctor (after moving) and that woman tried to tell me that my disabilities aren't that bad. Excuse me? Who tf are you to assume any of that when you haven't even evaluated me??

I am 100% P&T and I still see my own private physician every 6 months for my PTSD and I also go to my regular VA appointments every 6 months for my other medical issues.

Lesson here is keep making appointments. I have physical therapy for my shoulders coming up. Many more to follow. And many more to follow. If your hurt from the military keep going and going to appointments.

We served in a military culture that measured our value to the nation by our ability to not be broken...then we leave and our value to the nation is measured by how broken we are after that service...

Regardless of what your rating is, even if it is static, you should keep up with doctor's visits. At the very minimum, an annual visit with you VA primary care manager. That gives you access to services like cancer screenings, colonoscopies, vision tests (even if you were never rated for that disability) and vaccinations.
And if you qualify for Tricare for life, you can continue treatment through its network of providers with minimal out of pocket costs. In those cases you should keep a hardcopy of your medical records, just in case the VA can't access them directly.
