  One more point: concerning the beginning quote from the 1997 anime, I absolutely agree with you that the show is advocating Compatibilism in a Determinalistic universe. However, in saying &nbsp;<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-yWgvvMMfh8&amp;t=1124">18:44</a> “…that man has no control, even over his own will” the show is alluding to Arthur Schopenhauer’s “A man can do as he will, but not will as he will.&quot; <br><br>As far as its implication, I have always been undecided. On one hand, By adding this extra layer against free will in a predetermined universe ruled by causality, is this doubling down on a hopeless nihilistic message? At first this appears to be the case. But on the other hand, if Guts eventually overcomes &nbsp;his branded destiny by overriding even his own will and primal desires, the show could demonstrate even more than nothing is insurmountable.<br><br>Alas, unfortunately we will never truly know Miura’s final goal/meaning. Your video reminded me of how far Guts still had to go personally when Miura died. Was Gut’s dark state even this far into the journey suggesting that he will fail to the inevitability of causality/destiny. Or was this a “darkest before dawn” situation and Guts will hit his lowest point before ultimately succeeding?<br><br>Man I’m feeling “meta” despair right now knowing that we will never know now…

  Thank you for this excellent video! FWIW I am especially impressed with your nuanced knowledge of stoicism. Tbh I am less familiar with stoicism than I am with some of the other philosophical concepts in this video. While I never went so far as to agree with any one-sentence/five-second &quot;Guts is a stoic&quot; &quot;analysis,&quot; I admit I also tend to shallowly equate stoicism with anyone who is stubborn and unchanging. (I need to tell myself that not all Earth Benders are stoics... ;) )<br> <br>I suppose my relative ignorance comes from the fact that my own temperamental/fluid personality tends to be the opposite of a stoic’s. &nbsp;...but that&apos;s all the more reason to fix my ignorance and see what I can learn from it. (I apologize for the disjointed/rambling post...but I really appreciate the inspiration!)
