They also recorded this in their own studio, so they could afford the time to experiment. The hours required to make this would have translated to a LOT of money, even back then. One of the true masterpieces of pop music, no matter which decade, or century, you’re talking about!

I've driven past Strawberry studios in Stockport countless times and the history still gets to me. Not just 10cc, but Joy Division too. The place is fated, as a passenger plane crashed about 100 yards down the road from there in the late 60s.
