The amount of content out there that says it’s just a bed adhesion problem drives me insane!

Great breakdown of the warping principles. I have found 2 additional tricks that i would like to share regarding stubborn warping if you don't have a chamber. <br>1. Print setting: A heat-shield (skirt with a wall of several layers tall) makes a massive difference to warping. It slows the heat dissipation of the first few layers and therefore the shear stresses don't become as large. - Try it, really magical fix.<br>2. Design Principle: Break up large flat surface geometry with patterns. One big square shrinks over it's whole planar surface, but a matrix of hexagons/squares shrinks each 'island' instead. So the far corners aren't subjected to as large forces.

Everything you are mentioning here is spot on. I can vouch for these tips from experience as I recently printed a 1m large prop from multiple parts using PLA. Even though the parts looked fine, nothing fit together due to small amounts of warping. I fixed this by printing my PLA in a 50°C heated chamber with a 50°C bed. I let the chamber cool down naturally with the print inside which takes more than an hour with my printer. PolyLite filament as it is clog proof. Worked like a charm and my parts did not warp the slightest bit.

Thanks for an awesome video! This is the first video in a long time I have watched at normal speed. The additional time investment is worth it because there's so much information that tells me the "why" rather than the "what" or "how." Understanding the "why" enhances my systemic approach to solving problems and tackling projects, something that a "how" will never improve.

I randomly stumbled upon this on Google while trying to explain this topic to someone. This is a really excellent video. It gets appropriately deep into the topic without going too far or rambling. I love the huge variety of visuals you've used and the references to scientific papers (which you also provide links to in the description). I also like that you've bothered to create manual (proper) subtitles and not just relied on YouTube's awful auto-subtitling to do the job. Clearly a lot of effort went in to this video. Absolutely fantastic work, mate! I am sure I will be referencing this video in the future.

I would not be surprised if your video gets shown in a 3D printing class

I think you should talk more in detail about bed temperatures and types of bed plates and how that influences adhesion on all amorphous and semi crystalline materials. Also, please do comparison between different cleaning agents like degreasing dish spray or isopropyl alcohol or just water rinsing

really great info here! if you are really having trouble with warping, and you have tried everything, sometimes just re-orienting the part helps a lot. even a 15 degree angle with supports or a raft can be a game changer. as far as ABS goes, after using ABS-GF there is no going back for me. it prints so good and looks beautiful.

This video is an absolute masterclass! Just in time as I'm printing ASA parts for a voron V0.2<br><br>After few weeks of printing (1-3 parts per day depending on size) i got it printing semi reliably and my methods basically independently confirm everything in the video, but I'll definitely change the infil to gyroid from cubic.

What helped me with bed adhesion and warping was to keep the plates clean and reduce the first layer speed about 30-50%. And brim or mouse ears are also a good idea
