My doctor was amazing. I had had depression in the past but he told me go for 30 minutes or more walks daily & take vitamin D. What an awesome doctor. 5 years later, I’m still healthy & active & zero prescriptions & I just turned 66! 😊

I'm a therapist and agree that for many people therapy is a waste of time, many therapists just have patients come in week after week with no endgame, just weekly person-centered yakkity-yakking without helping patients eliminate cognitive distortions and developing coping skills...:body-blue-raised-arms:

I kind of wish you would have included adopting a pet. Getting my dog was a major contributing factor in decreasing my anxiety and depression. Growing up with a narcissistic mother, I never took my mother seriously whenever she said "I love you". Meanwhile, although my dog can't say those words (not even in a cute mimicking fashion) there is no doubt in my mind that I am loved by my dog in a way I never have and probably never will experience from either of my parents.

and how in the world should you get financial security if you suffer from depression and in consequence are unemployed or have a job you barely can do propperly?

Worst thing ever for my mental health was living in a provincial farm town. Growing up in small towns you are subjected to much more scrutiny, there is less diversity, and fewer things to do. Minor embarrasments from your past follow you your whole life and the in-group out-group social dynamic is hard to escape.

You are a breath of fresh air in the world of mental health. Your approach needs to be the new gold standard. What about people who live in the suburbs? Are they any more or less likely to be depressed?

My depression was caused by low iron - my ferritin was 17. After about three months of iron supplements, and cutting out gluten, I my ferritin is now over 100. My depression is gone and my mood has improved a lot. Just my experience. I'm not a doctor, but it might be worth checking.

you know what's funny? that dsm-v pretty much says that if you are depressed for more than 2 weeks and you have tried to fix in normal ways like more exercise and stuff and it hasn't worked then that means that it's not working but if ssri don't work in two weeks then that's just because it hasn't started to work yet. it's double standard. ssri gets preferential treatment.

I love love love your channel. It is my absolute favourite on YouTube. I realize implants are not a healthy option however my breast augmentation completely transformed my depression because of the deformity teen pregnancy, breast feeding and then dramatic weight loss caused me. My whole life was destroyed. Its not going to help everyone but I think it’s important for everyone to understand that vast differences we all have. Keep up the fantastic work please 🙏
