Benzodiazepines? I didn't know I was taking that type of medication. I can only attest that my life has radically changed, and not for the better. I started withdrawal 30 months ago, and it's unbearable. I live with a different personality inside. The side effects are monstrous. One of the hardest things is dealing with people around me who don't care to know or understand, and this makes me angry at times. So there's loneliness, and that's fine; I don't have to deal with people. Dealing with inappropriate outbursts is unbearable. In short, a real nightmare!

I've been living this nightmare for 4 years and it's do hard to wrap my brain around what's going on - especially as there is a dearth of knowledge and awareness out there. Thank you for shining a light on a problem that is affecting millions. I think most who have it, don't even know it. I didn't. At least until I started understanding protracted withdrawals.

Gangrenous perforated appendix surgery caused me a massive setback!! 6 months of extremely intolerable supercharged symptoms. Extreme Akathisia and glutamate excitoxicity. The 6 months after surgery was a literal living hell. I couldn’t handle it at all. I was on suicide watch every day because I was in so much distress. I have struggled for many years from kindled protracted withdrawal and it has been a huge intolerable battle. Surgery mad it 10x more severe

8 years out and I still suffer, the tingling, the ringing in my ears, the anxiety, brain zaps, palpitations. I’ve been down those rabbit hole. Once I discovered it was BIND, I treat it like a physical thing and no longer worry about it. Other than the physical issues, I’m happy, I life life to the fullest

Doctor, after watching a few of your videos I see that you talk about all the dangers of psychiatric meds. What I'm not seeing are answers to help patients who suffer from anxiety, depression and other mental health issues. I've taken xanax off and on for many years; I take it only when I need it. The dose is .25 and a bottle of 30 can last an entire year. When I turned 70 my physician would no longer prescribe xanax because at the magic age of 70 apparently it is too risky for me. So I saw a psychiatric NP and now I have my xanax. I also see a counselor who knows me well and knows I don't abuse drugs; in fact, I actually hate taking them. But in the past few years I've suffered a number of traumas and just having that bottle in my cabinet gives me peace. I know it's there if I need it. What would really help is if physicians would know their patients well enough to know if they might eventually abuse a drug. But that's not likely to happen since apparently insurance companies and health groups have decided a 15 minute appointment is sufficient for any and all issues. Anyway, if you don't want people to take drugs, how about some solutions??
