Matt isn't wearing a dark grey shirt, he might actually have had his life completely changed.

The Courage to Be Disliked teaches that happiness comes from choosing your own path, letting go of past traumas, and not seeking approval from others. It’s based on Adlerian psychology and encourages living in the present, taking responsibility, and embracing freedom—even if it means being disliked.

The quote “Life is just a collection of present moments..” reminds me so much of Ferris Bueller’s “Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it”. Its nice to be reminded of this once in a while when life gets too overwhelming.

Since becoming a parent Matt videos appear (to me atleast) to be so much more vulnerable, and honest. I love it, they’ve always been good but seeing this side (atleast more than before) is amazing. The out takes about the speech difficulties has me in tears. Love it.

I'm a chronically ill and disabled person, and I'll say, it's a lot easier to process/view trauma with a different lens, when the trauma ends. Not everyone has this experience.

Dude, if YOU are not articulate, then I'm non-verbal! But seriously man, you have given me so much value in the last 5 years of watching you. Appreciate you!

I see where he comes from with trauma. However, I do believe the cause and effect theory. I also believe you CAN let go of trauma. I also believe that the result of my horrific life experiences as a child have made me who I am today - for better and for worse. So there is that. I recognize where I've risen above those horrific experiences, but I also recognize where I still have work to do to rise. In my opinion, that's a healthy way to view horrific life experiences, or trauma.

I read this when I was 15 and it transformed me. I reread it this year, 5 years later, and it is awesome to see how much I have grown based on what I used to annotate and what I now have annotated. My mom gifted this book to me in Dutch because she liked the title better "de moed jezelf te zijn", which means "the courage to be yourself"
