Lost my 28 year old son years ago in a tragic accident. I hear this song and realize I'm always looking for him. Beautiful work of art.

How is it even possible to write a song as beautiful as this?

My first wife and I used to play this (on cassette) on our various trips out to the desert and river trips, in our lumbering '79 Scout Traveler. She loved this album.

She passed away in 2004, and this song gets me every time I hear it. It's been awhile, and I sold the Scout years ago, but I still look for her face. Never shows, but I keep looking.

The last two minutes of the song goes down in history as one of the best pieces of instrumental music of all time.

This has got to be one of the most underrated songs in the universe. Everyone should know of its existence.

For some strange reason Mark Knopfler is not included when people talk about the great musicans of the last 50 or 60 years.
In my humble opinion the guy is right up there with the very best.

Today, my uncle passed away. He was the closest thing I had to a father, and some of my happiest childhood memories are of us listening to music together. He introduced me to bands like the Eagles, Tears for Fears, Deep Purple, Eric Clapton, America and so many more. There’s something about this song that makes me break down every time. It brings back all those moments with him.

You don't listen to Dire Straits, you sit back and feel the music flow through you.

A man lost in his art, a woman he loves lost in the crowd. Possibly the saddest song ever written and one of the most hauntingly beautiful.

One of the greatest guitar players who ever lived is Mark Knopfler.

I love how this song slowly builds up. Such a good and honourable musician.
