Watched this at 3x speed while day trading, scrolling twitter, watching a movie in the background and eating junk food, absolutely no idea what this guy is talking about.

I found the video strangely soothing — no music, no flashy montage, no perfect takes, just a guy explaining an important point at lenght. Wow, I forgot content like this existed. Kudos!

a little add-on for the ADHD brains: we tend to start the day with lower than average dopamine, so starting with the hardest thing doesn't work well. Instead, set yourself an "on-ramp": 1-3 quick & easy but valuable tasks to start with. Succeeding there gives you dopamine - which you can then use to do the hard thing. I find writing those first tasks down the day before helpful, so I don't have to make choices first thing in the morning.

As a teen I had to lose a lot of weight, and I developed a trick that's stuck with me for 20 years. When there's all the voices of how you don't want to go for a run or to the gym and you imagine how hard it will be, how you really don't feel like it today, you then introduce this devilish indulgent voice of 'but what if I did?'. Like the thing of the Angel and Devli on your shoulders, and you inverse it and make the devil the one who wants to do something crazy, then you're going on an adventure, you're on the precipe of the unknown, who knows how good you will feel when you're doing it, and then it's like you let yourself be possessed by this ridiculous venture.

Thank you for not putting any background music on your video! A clean, undistracted and effective tutorial.

I'm a psychotherapist and I have ADHD, which unavoidably made me an accidental ADHD expert. With that being said, this is probably one of the best self help vídeos I've ever watched. It almost feels wrong to call it self help, but it is, in fact, instructing us on how to help ourselves. Even tho there's clearly a very deep scientific basis behind it. Keep up the good work

This might be toxic. But sometimes when I am in the gym I will say to myself "this is hard" and then I follow it up with the thought of "oh, this is the part where everybody thinks this is hard, so if I do just a liiiitle bit more, I can be a bit bigger and stronger than the majority that stop at this point. cool". It's cool being one of the few that will actually do a bit more when its hard, and I take pride in that, which in turn makes it easier.

I think it's hilarious that you show the full erasing scene and none of the writing, when other people show only the writing part and none of the erasing

My hard thing is...every basic thing I need to do to stay alive. Making food is a hard thing. Showering is a hard thing. Getting out of bed is a hard thing. It feels like every basic thing that everything else is built on is such a mission that it feels like I'm building a house of cards every day and never getting past the first layer.
