  How much warmup does one need before (attempting to) hit a kick-serve; both time during practice and time before a tennis match.

  #1-Not just need to learn the second serve, but at least minimal power on all serves. Not just power, but also, placement over spin or kick on all serves. On all serves, be able to serve to your opponents' weaker side (example: When facing right hand receivers on the deuce side-hit down the T to the receiver's backhand (Think about it. If you hit even a decent serve down the T on the deuce side to a righthanded receiver's backhand. what are the odds the returner cranks a backhand down the line past your net partner? Could this be a center-net strap poaching opportunity?), when facing right hand receivers on the add side-hit out wide to the receiver's backhand. How likely is your opponent going to consistently crank a backhand down the line return winner? Likely that ball is coming back over the net center strap. Poach!). #2-learn proper court positioning for singles and doubles. How many points are lost because you landed a shot on the other side of the court, just watch your opponent hit into a wide open area you left open because you hit to the wrong area of your opponents' side of the court and then stood there and watched instead of repositing for best position to make a potential return shot coming back into your court? #3-Learn how to hit volleys and overheads. Most rec players and not very good at overheads or volleys of any kind. #4-Learn real doubles tactics to COORDINATE with you partner. Doubles is NOT singles. Planning poaching, serve placement, lob coverage, using different formations (Australian, I-formation) can and will increase winning. You and your doubles partner are a TEAM. Play like a doubles team, not like 2 singles players. NOTE: Find some pro doubles matches and watch them. Then, learn by doing.

  if you spent less time online obsessing about why you are stuck at 3.5 and played more you might be able to post what it feels like to finally get to 4.0.

  This is embarrassing! Talking about a kick-serve + seniors is an oxymoron …just don’t do it. Keep it simple with flat serves and switch it up with some slice. The entire subject is a bad recipe to send them into pickleball! 😢 <br><br>Practice safe serves 💪🏽
