  Not only does this family have a survival advantage with John Krasinski’s character being able to work on radios and electronics, but they were able to have instant and effective communication since they already knew sign language because of the daughter.

  I love that John insisted on having the daughter have a real hearing disability. He fought for her rather than an actress who pretended to be deaf.

  Every single time John Krasinski signs “I love you, I have always loved you” then SCREAMS, breaks me down into to the most agonizing and emotional cry. <br><br>I believe that most if not all loving parents would make the same choice as that’s how strong that love, that bond is between parent and child.

  It seemed to me that the reason it was so important for the son to go learn was because the daughter was already a survivor. <br>She had the toughness and confidence that their son did not have but needed.

  They were already married when John wrote the film and his wife Emily said she told him that he had to put her in the film after she read it...lol.
