22:46 I feel like not many people appreciate how Clarice exaggerated her accent and knew exactly how to talk to the local cops to get them to leave. “Go’on, now” sounds like something their momma would say and she knew that.

It didn't just win Best Picture. It is one of three movies to sweep the top five categories - Best Picture, Best Director, Best Screenplay, Best Actor and Best Actress. (The other two movies are It Happened One Night and One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest).

Buffalo Bill is inspired by Ed Gein. Funny hearing Nick saying he reminds him of Ed Gein

39:48 I love Lecter's "good evening, gentlemen" here. He KNOWS he's about to kill these men. He KNOWS he's about to mutilate them. But he's still so soft-spoken and polite. Obviously what he said earlier ("discourtesy is unspeakably ugly to me") is part of it, but I think it's also a hunting technique. People let their guard down when you are genial. You don't think the guy who says "please" and "thank you" is gonna eat your face. And even if you know he's a cannibal, you might think "well he's always nice to me, if I'm polite back maybe we're building rapport..."

He's so much more dangerous as a quiet, well-spoken man than he would be as a slavering loon. And he KNOWS that.

I’m sure someone has pointed it out already but in The Office ‘Safety Training’ episode when Dwight cuts the face off the mannequin he stands like Lecter and mutters ‘Ahh, Clarice’.

When David Wallace asks why he had to cut the face off he says he didn’t think it was very realistic in the movie - the movie being ‘The Silence Of The Lambs’ 😉

Hannibal is a psychiatrist and he likes hearing peoples’ stories so that’s why he wanted to know her story, that’s what he needs more than anything. There was a moment of satisfaction that came across his face when he found out why Clarice is the way she is. The other things are games he’s just playing.

I really love the imagery when Buffalo Bill is lying dead, because his hands curl up like a dead spider's legs, and he's got those goggles on, making him look even more like a monstrous insect or spider. I assume that was intentional but I don't know.

The dog in this film was a Bichon Frise named Darla. She was one of the most sought after animal actors in the 80-90's. Apart from this film, she was in Pee-Wee's Big Adventure, The 'Burbs, and Batman Returns.
