  what about old outlets/plugs that just have the two prongs, and not the big one you said was ground?  do they just have positive and neutral and that's it, and how does this work?  i'm still learning some stuff.

  I think you miss one of the biggest needs for grounding, EARTHING!  The transformer causes the output to float. Sure the potential between conductors is 120/240 (1ph north america) but there is no reference to anything else. In a building with multiple transformer feeds this could be very dangerous.  Earthing the neutral causes the neutral conductor to be at a common reference (the earth) which becomes our 0V.

  Great video! I have one question though, why do we need two grounding rods, one at the house connected to the distribution panel and one at the transformer? Don‘t they both go into the ground!? So why have both and not just one. Thank you

  hi, would 10AWG solid copper wire be used to connect to a grounding rod from the panel from my room with electronics (water heater, laptop, inverter aircon), how dangerous could it be? Because I googled and the suggested is 6 AWG.

  i once installed some panels in an industrial estate area to monitor the water pressure distributed in the area, the electrical supply for the plc came from the power house that was hundreds of meter away with 3 wires (L N and PE) we were also asked to also install grounding rod with the BC wire connected to the panel body (the owner said it is for lighting protection), the neutral isn&apos;t connected to the BC wire inside the panel in this case, the PE supply might be connected to the ground rod via PSU body attached to the panel<br><br>is this a correct practice?<br><br>and, is it correct that every point where N connects with PE require connection to earth/ ground rod?
