I almost gave up on this campsite and YouTube, but everything changed at this waterfall on the Oregon Coastal Range. Join me for Day 1 of solo camping at Alder Glen on the Nestucca River. This is Day 1 of my 2-night trip to Alder Glen Campground on the Nestucca River in the Oregon Coastal Range. The waterfall was right across the river. The campsite was right on the water. And the only reason I got it? I didn't give up. It was booked all summer — until a cancellation opened up. Day 1 was hot. I set up camp, gathered twigs for a fire, and then saw the "No Campfires" signs. (Shoutout to OG viewer Steve Page for the fire starter idea — I'll save it for next time.) I wasn't feeling great that evening, so I skipped dinner and retired early. But the next morning, I woke up feeling better. I filtered water, made coffee, and had a real talk with myself about why I almost quit YouTube — and why I'm still here. Breakfast was an old classic: Spam, egg, and hashbrown breakfast burrito.
