  WWI was an inter-imperialist war that solved 3 problems; it<br>1) deprived the Central Powers of their colonies and gave them to the Allied Powers.<br>2) it split socialist movements in country into pro- and anti-war factions, and which also divided the international socialist movement between countries.<br>3) it slaughtered 1/4 of the most powerful revolutionary class of Europe, its young working class men.
