Can we all just agree that the fact that he did this without electric tools is amazing? Literal man power used for everything. You got my sub, good sir.

The best part is missing. How did you repair the broken tang? It looks a bit short. Maybe you just cut it off.

Not a special forces knife, just a typical fighting knife for the Marine Corps. I got mine in 89 and it's made by Ontario. I still have it. You did an outstanding job at bringing this weapon back to life.

I've restored and built KaBars (carried one when I was in Vietnam as a Marine infantryman). The best way to remove the pommel is to very carefully drill out the pin trying not to to drill all the way through. The original stacked leather handles were dyed brown as was the sheath. Later models sometimes had black dyed grooves in the handle. Very nice workmanship!

I guess I am old school as I have that fighting knife . I’ve had it since ‘73 as a young Marine and it has remained a trusty companion !

SF

That is the 1219C2 Marine Corps combat knife adopted in 1942, typically called Ka Bar and manufactured by Camillus among others. I don't know if it was also given to Special Forces AKA Green Berets, their knives if I recall were serrated on the top. The one I was issued was manufactured by Camillus, just as that one is
