  I was in Morocco recently and I even deleted all my sex apps. I had no intention of hooking up with anyone. There have been several stories of people being lured in by police and arrested. Be smart and aware when traveling, sometimes the possibility of a good time isn’t worth it.

  A lot of Americans are in naïve special. The young ones never travel they don’t understand the perception of certain cultures so just be very careful. Be smart be aware party but be careful. I only go to Europe and Asia. I don’t do Arab countries no offense too many laws too many things Turkey is nice. It’s most secure, but still you cannot do any drugs and it’s very common in turkey man holding hands. This is a friendship just like the French men kiss each other on the cheek, so we need to understand one thing about this country what do you see? Are you going for culture? You know it’s a combination of everything.

  I never spend travel or tourism dollars in countries that don't have good civil rights for their citizens. It's my opinion that's about the only effective protest I can make against their governments.

  From Paris/France:<br>There are indeed many (even a majority of) gay men who are more “gay for pay in Morocco. The &nbsp;history of this country is highly particular in this regard, and ever since its colonization many prominent figures or members of the upper class (from France but also from England) went to Morocco to live out their fantasies. This involved (and still involves, by the way) exploitative homosexuality (based on economic power imbalance) but also pedophilia (with a great many very disturbing stories).<br>I believe it is therefore very important (even crucial) to really understand the history of these former colonies (now saturated with tourism) before traveling there, in order to maintain a minimum level of respect…<br>The perspective of homosexuality in Morocco (the Maghreb country most affected by sex tourism) remains unique and sometimes tragic on both sides.<br><br>P.S.: You might also be forgetting to mention that in some of the countries you visited (and contrary to the Americano-Latino fantasies mentioned in one of the comments), relationships between men are (as you say) hypocritical and contradictory because women are not supposed to have sexual relations before marriage… and adolescence needs an outlet.

  I was there for work 28 years ago on a ship, we took the ship&apos;s small speed boat for a ride, me and the Captain looking for a beer and beach. We ended up being detained by the army on the beach, four hours later they sent us to a local police precinct. And several hours after that we ended up in the Chief of Police&apos;s office, drinking tea with him, chit chatting and saving face. Tangiers. If we inky had Google translate back then it would have been a better experience.

  I grew up in Algeria, and live in Quebec. I do not understand the need that white gay man have to go to Muslim countries. I grew up in Islam and was almost killed because I was suspect of being gay. <br>You are saying people are kind and gracious, but they do not know you are GAY. &nbsp;<br>Gay people are treated horribly across the Muslim world, you are using your privlege of being white. <br>Imagine what its like for people who are found to be gay in these cultures.

  I lived in Marrakech for 9 years . I survived 9 years ! . I was suspicious of EVERY man who spoke to me . The only men I could trust were the ones I employed, and even some of them I wasn’t 100 % sure about them . I met genuine gay guys in Casablanca, it was so much nicer there , actually more relaxed, more like meeting a guy in Spain . I had some unpleasant experiences in Marrakech. I could write a book .

  My partner and I were in Morocco last year and had a wonderful time. Tangier and Marrakech were great for the markets and food and we meet quite a few gay men in those two cities. Your description of the hustlers we also experienced but not as much as you apparently did. One place you did not mention having gone to and perhaps you will eventually, is Casablanca. It&apos;s unlike the rest of Morocco very much Western and very open to gay people. There we even gay friendly clubs where alcohol was served to Westerners and same sex dancing was allowed. We even witnessed men kissing each other on the lips. If you&apos;re still in Morocco make the effort to spend a few days in Casablanca, you won&apos;t forget the experience
