The mountains get into your heart and mind and soul, get homesick when I am away from them for too long! You used to be able to fish and hunt just about anywhere but outsiders moved in and the first thing they do is post every foot , it used to be sitting on your neighbors poach and listen to the crickets and whippoorwill, but they consider them nuisance so they poison and kill, cut down and build fences, put signs up to let people know that their neighbors are not welcome, lot has changed in fifty years.

My Irish ancestors settled in this beautiful state and inter married with Cherokee Indian nation,also my ancestors.....I love the great state of N.C.!!!❤❤❤❤

I've been to a lot of these places. The spot where your car rolls uphill is a really weird feeling, I don't care how science explains it It will wig you out.

A couple more items for your list. <br>The French Broad River is one of the oldest rivers in the world and it flows north as well. <br>Reed's Goldmine, the first gold strike in the United States. <br>Oldest public university in the country, UNC-CH.<br>I like calling North Carolina home.Lots to love about The Old North State

I did not know the mountains were that old. I live about 45 minutes away from those mountains. I was raised in those mountains. That was very fascinating.
