The Mel & Kim story is a sad one, but amazingly, Mel became a pop star about a year after she was first treated for cancer! So she at least got to achieve her dream of becoming a pop star during her short life, and having been seriously ill at a young age didn't stop her. This song was huge and went to #1 all across Europe and Australia.

My sister and I, the whitest, Scottish siblings ever, used to do ‘shows’ for our family after Sunday lunch to every Mel and Kim song! We loved them and our grandparents used to clap along, pretending they knew what was happening! 😂

Good to hear this if somewhat sad too. The sister duo had only 3 records released from their only album. Mel died in 1990 from pneumonia secondary to metastatic paraganglioma at the age of 23. Both were of British and Jamaican heritage. You have certainly been busy Tysheen with your postings...don't overdo it girl you're worth waiting for

Kim was 5 years older than Mel. This was Number 1 here in the UK in 1987.
