Born in 63. The 70s n 80s I was not into shopping unless I knew I was getting a toy. Or one of them ham sandwiches. We grew up dirt poor. So for my early years we always got them buddy tennis shoes. It was like wearing ice skates if it was wet outside. Think I was 10 or 11 and after wearing my buddy's to the new school year and being made fun of I refused to wear them again. So then mom bought us converse chucks. But since everyone has passed I would love to go back even for day and go shopping in a k mart for Christmas. Nothing out there to make any memories now. Even the malls around here stink. But I will go once or twice during the holidays. Or I hope to, dealing with bladder cancer and praying the Lord heals me.

I always felt more at home in Kmart than any other big-box store.

Its a shame because Both Walmart and Target suck today.... Although Walmart is better than Target.

One of the last remaining K mart stores to close in Colorado was in Loveland. I remember going to that store the day after Christmas in 2000 (?) to purchase many sets of clear, white Christmas lights for my niece's upcoming wedding reception/openhouse. My sister worked at the Fort Collins, Colorado store for a summer in the early 1970s. Remember the store brand Kraco of self install car stereos? Some people called it "Krapco." Many stores had an automotive department that featured oil and filter services, tires, batteries etc. I still have a Focal brand camera tripod that is actually a Velbon. It had a foil sticker on it with the slogan "Satisfaction Always." I finally removed it. When K mart and Sears merged ( K Sears? or S Mart?) the hardware department of K mart had Craftsman tools and Die Hard car batteries. Now, both retailers are all but totally gone. One Kmart and five Sears stores, that's in mainland U.S..At several places in the video, such as 0:09, the second car from the left, next to a Ford Galaxie, is a Ford Edsel. The Edsel made for only three model years, became the laughing stock of American car making. Today, a restored Edsel is worth thousands of dollars! This video is well produced. Great writing, narration, music and use of the "Ken Burns effect" of camera movement on the still images. In this day and age of poorly done artificial intelligence produced you tube videos it's great to see someone taking the time and effort to produce a video that is worth the time to watch and enjoy.
