  Requiring an app to interface with a speaker system is a deal breaker. All apps go EOL at some point. When that happens, your $200 speakers turn into a $200 door stop.

  Honestly, the only thing I want out of any sound system is active noise adjustment so I don&apos;t have to ride volume so that I&apos;m not struggling to hear dialogue at all and then go deaf seconds later when music or action starts

  As I&apos;ve gotten older I have stopped chasing perfect for simple. Quality Soundbars are a great alternative to headaches of a full blown surround system.

  Yeah Linus had a decent video last year about picking up used DIY systems. I have some beautiful front speakers I thrifted for $20 and they sound sooooo good

  The audio rabbit hole. More money usually means better sound. There are diminishing returns of course. Great overview on why you should not settle for your tv speakers!

  I have the Vizio 5.1 system, and it also is great for watching sports — you definitely get more of an immersive experience. The wireless subwoofer and satellite speakers are very easy to set up and I’ve had no connectivity problems. If you pair the Vizio soundbar with a Vizio TV, there is a feature that allows you to easily attach the soundbar to the TV frame (below the screen), which is particularly nice if you mount your screen to a wall or articulating arm.

  A simple set of detached speakers is such a huge upgrade over TV speakers. I honestly don&apos;t know how people deal with how bad TV speakers generally sound.
