  The answer he took the entire video to set up is to enable VRR (variable refresh rate), or set the display to 120Hz.

  I HATE that smooth motion crap with all my heart. It&apos;s the first thing I disable whenever I get a new TV, and it baffles me that it&apos;s still enabled by default in 2026. I&apos;ve been a gamer since I was a kid so my brain is probably more trained to recognize this kind of stuff, but I don&apos;t understand how some people don&apos;t even notice it.

  Crisp 1080p is often almost indistinguishable from 4K at typical viewing distances, but very often 1080p on Youtube is encoded at such low bitrates that switching to any higher resolution is worth it for the gain in bits per pixel alone.

  It feels like you were going for a mysterious slow discovery vibe on the video - where you slowly introduce issues and then slowly discover the next step etc, but personally it just felt like a disjointed stream of consciousness where it could have been a much more organised, planned out educational video. But I guess each to their own.

  Broadcast Engineer here (SMPTE &amp; SBE engineer). Since 1953 in US we have 59.94 fields per second (Effectibly 59.94 images per second) YES, 59.94 DIFFERENT IMAGES, not 30 not 29.97!.<br>WE ALWAYS HAD 59.94 SEQUENTIAL IMAGES PER SECOND in &apos;Fields&apos;, that is A-B fields.<br>When those &apos;fields&apos; are combined is that you have 30/29.97, a combination of first field and second field. But if you run visual timecode you&apos;ll hav 59.94 sequential different images. <br>That&apos;s why sports in NTSC is always so smooth, because since 1953 we ALWAYS had 59.94 images per second.<br>The 3-2 Pull down of a 24fps is as follow: (AA | AB | BC | CD | DD), and this is where &apos;Frame Blending algorithm&apos; comes from. Using the fields to blend in between frames (because, again, FIELDS are actually different images in time), the movement from 24fps to 59.94fps is smooth, when is done correctly.<br>Today, because the 3-2 pulldown is done WRONG, and the knowledge is lost, most of post production houses brakes the 3-2 frame blending method.

  I&apos;m an animator and it bothers me to no end when I&apos;m at someone else&apos;s place and their TV has motion interpolation. Even OTHER animators, and somehow they don&apos;t notice it.
