  Whenever I hear or see the term " driver shortage" I laugh because there's no driver shortage. There's a shortage of pay and companies that treat drivers like actual humans!

  I love how there's a shortage in every single industry allegedly, but you can't get a job anywhere, and when you do finally get one, it's horrible. Gotta love 2025 lol

  in Europe being paid by the mile is illegal (truckers are paid by the hour) because it encouraged driving too much (over the legal limit) and speeding.

  For over 20 years, I&apos;ve been a &apos;local&apos; driver, paid by the hour. I don&apos;t even want to hear about mileage or stop pay.

  I know a Marine who served in Iraq, he said quote &quot;It was the most confusing, outrageous, frustrating job I&apos;ve ever had.&quot; &nbsp;After a year and a half he requested time off to see his daughter graduate and the day before his approved time off, they sent him in the opposite direction. &nbsp;He parked his rig at a local truck stop, called a friend to pick him up and quit right there on the spot. &nbsp;He now drives dump truck for a local company...

  i got my CDL and was ready to go working long haul. When i was at the DMV to finally get my license a veterant truck driver talked me out of it and told me to go local instead. Listening to this old guy changed my life for the best.

  My grandfather has been a long-haul trucker for 50 years. Brutal to be away from the family at basically every holiday. Not even getting paid, just sitting there alone on Christmas or Thanksgiving, just waiting to get back out on the road and actually earn money. To put food on the table for us. Shoutout gramps. And shoutout to all the truckers out there getting our stuff to us.

  I’ve been trucking for 5 years. <br><br>1. There isn’t enough parking<br>2. Truckers are not allowed to use the bathroom at several facilities we deliver at<br>3. We are intentionally paid by the mile because we get paid less that way and they increase their profits. <br><br>The government has bills to address all three but they haven’t done anything with them for a couple years. It’s probably for show. Those alone would fix a good bit.
