I can’t watch a story about 9/11 and Gander with crying. So proud of my fellow Canadians.

From New Jersey. On this 25th we still feel such sorrow and anger. But still feel enormous gratitude for our neighbors and forever friends from Gander and Halifax.

They didn’t make a musical out of sandwiches, soup and blankets, they made it out of kindness, empathy and the best of humanity.  Thank you Gander.❤❤❤

St. John’s Newfoundland took in a lot too. I was a university student at the time. They took over our gym and we all bought blankets and extra tooth brushes to them. It was a pleasure :)

There are Americans who were alive back then who weren’t even touched physically by your kindness, but were touched emotionally and still are every time we think of 9/11! In the face of unspeakable evil Canadians did what they have always been known for! You reached out to your neighbors and the world with kindness and comfort! Most of us will never forget and will always be grateful that you have been the best neighbor and friend to the USA 🇺🇸 We love and miss you and come November we will start trying to earn your trust and friendship back again ❤

I was  in my 40’s  and I’ve never heard this story!  I’m 73 now and want to still thank this town for their help!  I’m an American and thank y’all so much. There are still great people in this world!

Had heard much of this before but not about the animals - especially the rare apes. The entirety of Gander and its neighbors should be proud that they are the best of humanity and illustrated it at a time when the US and the world were dealing with the worst of it.

At 85, as I watched our iconic Rt. Hon. Mark Carney, Prime Minister emotional address on 9/11 25th Anniversary, I became so very small as I reflect on the warm, kind, sweet and loving folks of a small CANADIAN TOWN….GANDER, NEWFOUNDLAND..!!  When you look at the faces of some 10,000 stranded confused passengers from over 270 flights that were bound for airports in the USA, you just cried…!!   The humility and smiles of every man, woman and children in Gander, leaves its sudden, instant guests in ABSOLUTE AWE for nearly 5 days..!!  September 11, 2026 in Gander, I asked….and I wished I was there….to serve them…to buy a cup of tea or coffee.  You are indeed the real story of Canada and you humbly told the entire world about CANADA, and WHO we really we are…!!  May our Heavenly Father continue to bless you and protect you…..AMEN.
