"What do you mean starting a universe around nobodies that no one cares about instead of the biggest superheroes in fiction is a bad idea😮😮😮"

Hard to be disappointed when you knew from the start it wasn't going to work out

James Gunn took the job of head of DCU while seemingly having a disdain for the most popular characters. If it was completely up to him we wouldn’t even have a Superman movie at all in the DCU yet smh.

For my own part, I was hoping Gunn would show his versatility with Superman, at least to a certain degree. Sure, it was another superhero property, but he couldn't do the same things with Superman that he did with the Guardians, or so I hoped.
It wasn't entirely beyond the realm of possibility. Directors branching out has always happened. Let's not forget that even with a bunch of hits under his belt, people were still not sure if Steven Spielberg could handle a Holocaust movie. After all, he was primarily known for genre flicks about sharks, UFOs, dinosaurs, and cursed tombs. Look how that turned out.
As I left the theater, though, it was clear that Gunn just didn't feel comfortable with Superman, hence the addition of the Justice Gang. Then Peacemaker S2 unleashed Gunn's full id onto the screen, and, well, that made the writing on the wall very easy to read.

Anyone who knew his style and how he felt about main vs side characters knew long before superman released that he was NOT the guy to LEAD DC and make a superman movie. He doesn't like main characters. He doesn't like HERO heros.
Superman needed to be A HERO HERO. ITS SUPERMAN.

He had the benefit of mcu super position and got the chance to make a team of nobodies and give them an ok story. DC didn't have any of that and Gunn showed he can't run a universe.

It went from Gods and Monsters to Superfamily Saga. In two years when this is all over it will be the WBD Zaslaverse. He is the one who anointed this guy.

I will never understand why Gunn was given this job. He clearly was not capable of running DC and anyone who didn't see that is a moron.

The fact that James Gunn keeps introducing obscure teams nobody cares about, and B tier villans over a Batman and Flash trilogy is crazy. The fact we're not getting a Batman or Flash project anytime soon is pathetic.

And everyone hyped for a clayface movie is cool. I guess. But it's just piggy slop. Consume. Consume. Consume.

But heaven forbid we introduce Martian Manhunter or Green Lantern (properly)
