  MCU and starwars only did big budget random wacky spinoffs only after they established a grand saga with a consistent genre.

  You’re right that the DCU lacks tonal consistency, but I think that may be unavoidable. Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman are such different characters, with such different worlds, that forcing them into one unified tone can feel unnatural.<br><br>Superman in Gotham would almost make Batman obsolete, while Batman casually sharing space with Superman can feel strange for the same reason. DC’s biggest heroes were built as distinct mythologies, while Marvel was designed much more around heroes sharing the same world.<br><br>I don’t think DC should try to copy Marvel’s formula. Let each character keep their own tone and identity.

  My problem with Marvel is that they&apos;re too tonally consistent and because of that all the movies feel like echos of all the others in a really unexciting way. Even when the stakes are higher it just feels like a bigger version of the other movies I&apos;ve already seen

  Everything in the dcu is extremes either hardcore body horror clayface/ grounded true detective style lanterns that’s even darker than Snyder or stuff like peacemaker creature commandos and supergirl that is incredibly goofy and with all the horror, gore, cursing, and weird humor none of it is for kids

  dc and marvel comics are just a bunch of characters starring in their own genre books, the differing tones is the cool part that gives identity to each character&apos;s stories

  The results were wild and entertaining in the same sense that the lumber yard fire I once saw as a kid was wild and entertaining... the whole neighborhood turned out to watch the destruction.

  I agree. &nbsp;As much as i loved creature commandos, it&apos;s a mistake making it part of the main DCU because most people aren&apos;t going to know it&apos;s part of the DCU because it&apos;s animated compared to everything else. &nbsp;Not to mention the fact that you have other animated DC shows going on right now like the new Batman TV show on Amazon Prime, and My Adventures with Superman going on that all it&apos;s going to do is confuse audiences. &nbsp;Plus, one of the things that made the MCU successful was that all their earlier projects were at most PG 13 ish range, so parents didn&apos;t have to decipher which ones were appropriate and which ones weren&apos;t. &nbsp;By having the approach Gunn is going, it makes it hard to built up hype for his DCU because parents aren&apos;t going to do their homework on which ones are safe or not. &nbsp;And unless you follow movies news a lot, which most people don&apos;t, then most people aren&apos;t going to know which animated TV shows are cannon and which ones aren&apos;t.

  I think for me I understand that everything must feel different but I feel characters should stay consistent. The only time it really bothered me was when Lex showed up on peacemaker and basically did peacemaker comedy. It bothered me because it made Lex look more silly then anything. Just because your characters can swear and be more edgy doesn&apos;t mean you should do it.
