Why SEGA was RIGHT about BANNING Hyper Sonic

The End being stronger than Solaris is rather easy for me to comprehend due to how much effort they put into explaining what the end actually is, it’s rather obvious that the end is quite literally the personification of the end of a story. Solaris being a super dimensional being is impressive, however the end being a literal concept helps easily grant credence to its implied power level.

The only way I see Hyper Sonic being brought back is if they make it unnecessarily difficult, lore wise to use the Super Emeralds and a one-time thing.

lets be honest. if hyper sonic comes back. he should return aura farming and beating whoever he is fighting without even breaking a sweat

Also not only does Sonic have to collect the Chaos Emeralds but evolve them too then collect them again requires a lot of planning beforehand can’t just pull out a Hyper Sonic all the time

Ian Flynn actually wanted to put Hyper Sonic in Frontiers instead of that Super Sonic 2 transformation but the higher-ups at SEGA said no

You know, when Sonic Team was developing Sonic 3, their deadline ended up being rushed. As a result of the time constraints, they had to split the game into two halves: Sonic 3 and Sonic & Knuckles. Eventually, the Sonic Team found the clever way to merge the two halves into one as they are meant to be, but the problem is that each half had its own set of 7 Chaos Emerald Challenges, so there are two sets of 7 to do.

So in another stroke of brilliance, they decide to add Super Emeralds, which become available if you collect 7 Chaos Emeralds in Sonic 3's first half, and once you reach Sonic & Knuckles' second half, you can give up super form by turning Chaos Emeralds into Super Emeralds, do the second set for something even more powerful. Hyper Sonic is basically Super Sonic, but with directional dashes that we get from elemental shields that are also screen nukes.

Another piece of trivia is the cleverness of the names of Super Sonic and Hyper Sonic. I mean, there is Super Sonic speed, which is the speed greater than the speed of sound, and Hyper Sonic speed, which is the speed at least 5 times greater than the speed of sound.

In conclusion, Super Emeralds and Hyper Sonic were never meant to happen, but the rushed development led to splitting the games into two halves, each half have it's set of 7 Chaos Emerald challenges, and the merger of both halves created a circumstance that led to the creation of Super Emeralds and Hyper Sonic.

My thing with people always bringing up power scaling issues is that Hyper Sonic doesn't 𝙝𝙖𝙫𝙚 to become a regular form like Super Sonic. It doesn't 𝙝𝙖𝙫𝙚 to replace it.

I don't see why Hyper Sonic can't just be 𝘭𝘪𝘬𝘦 Cyber Sonic or the Doom mutations and be a last-resort type of form that Sonic can only use under very specific circumstances for very specific threats. I mean that's already kind of how it is since it's already more of a process to become Hyper than it is Super. They could easily write it to have some kind of limitation unlike Super, and thus have that be the reason why it's hardly used.

I was always under the impression that Solaris wasn't dangerous in terms of raw power, but in its abilities. I don't think it "ate dimensions for lunch" using sheer strength, but rather, it had the 𝙖𝙗𝙞𝙡𝙞𝙩𝙮 to erase existence (and then there's the fact that it was omnipresent). You know, it’s a super-dimensional time god. It's like the equivalent to a reality warper vs someone with super strength. That's why other entities like Dark Gaia and The End left Super Sonic beaten up because they were stronger than Solaris solely in raw power. But they can’t manipulate time or transcend dimensions or anything like that (even the Time Eater is more dangerous than those two for the same reason).

Having an entity that's stronger than Super solely in strength easily still leaves a reason to bring back Hyper. And if you ask me, Frontiers would've been the second best opportunity for that.

One thing I've wondered is what if the Hyper form has some hidden downside that makes Sonic want to avoid using it as anything other than a last resort?

I love this about Sonic franchise. Sonic has a transformation SO op that it needed to be sealed into the non-canon realm because SEGA has NO idea how to use it. Like, Super Sonic is toe to toe with GODS! Unless they pull some meta narrative super god, Hyper Sonic might be overkill. Heck, Hyper Sonic WAS overkill on S3K if you think about it

if it were up to me, I would have had it to where Hyper Sonic is as power as he is difficult to obtain.
Usually one and done and if you wish to use Hyper Sonic again, the process of doing so per story would be teeth grinding and tedious but make it worth it. And even have plots where Sonic CAN'T get Hyper Sonic since he can't afford to waste time to gather all the Super Emeralds again or he hates the idea of going through the Hell of gathering them that he would rather do literally all other options before even thinking about gathering them.
TLDR: I would make the Hyper Form the "Godzilla Threshold" form and make it difficult to obtain as it is powerful.

Hyper Sonic becomes absolutely necessary when the Master Emerald, which should be one of the most important points of the lore, is sidelined and basically has no real importance in any game since "S3&K". Even in "SA 1 and 2" it's nothing more than an excuse for Knuckles to participate.

Ive always said that Hyper Sonic was merely a solution to the unique problem of how to utilize 2 sets of special stages that the lock-on feature of Sonic 3 & Knuckles created, rather than a deliberate choice to make an even stronger Super Sonic.
