You'll definitely want to be careful when encountering private aircraft while in the remote deserts. The cartels are known to use the desert for running product, so just make sure you excersize caution before approaching ⚠️

Ok, here's how you remember: Fred (fungus) and Alice (algae) took a like´n (Lichen) to each other.

When I saw the airplanes my first thought was DRUG DEALERS? I am not as intrepid as you and I would have turned back and left..

Geologist here: It's Spring Canyon Arch UTM 12S 544072 4321859. It's in the area of Mexican Bend on the San Rafael, near Mexican Mt. You will see the air strip. In Emory Co. Utah. It's well known for the arch (aka Delicate Arch) and the petroglyphs shown here. The dark covering on the rocks is desert varnish, which makes a nice pecking surface. There is an overlook where the arch can be seen reasonably well. The hike to get there is arduous. I would carry one gallon of water minimum.
Why Jeff does his usual no-location bit, is beyond me.There are some decent photos of the petroglyphs and arch already in place on the net. Now that the name is known, a simple search will lead you there. Further, on GE you can put the area into context and see how it all fits together. Now if we want, we can even know the rock strata via geologic map. It's a fascinating area.
.

Jeff I realize that this adventure had to be very tough and a bit hard on you. So I just wanted to say thank you for the work and everything that you put into this journey mostly for us. Thank you so much Jeff.
Mark

Yeah, stumbling onto those planes was a little spooky. They could see you were an 'innocent', though (see how my mind works?). Those petroglyphs were so mysterious. I agree, a lot of them look like a map when there were more streams or a greater volume of water flowing through. I know there were more petroglyphs, it's a shame there wasn't more time. That huge foot with six toes! Thanks for being my legs, man. It's a wonderful, spooky and beautiful place. Look forward to video #2.

I know a couple guys with planes that like to do that for the sake of exploration because they just are not young anymore and the hikes are too much now. They go out, hang out, relax and do a little reminiscing about when they used to do what Trek Planner does. I know that the passion for this never ends, even when endurance for it does.
