  I believe they were already considering scrapping Kang. The Jonathan Majors situation was the perfect excuse for them to use rather than admitting they screwed up.

  Their first plan was to experiment at first. Then Loki s1 made them very high on Kang, probably leading to a push from Disney to get out a quick event film in The Kang Dynasty and Secret Wars. That&apos;s where the disconnect comes from.<br><br>Doom wasn&apos;t planned as the villain for Secret Wars at first, and instead would&apos;ve been a big thing in the next saga.

  I just watched the Loki series and it really bums me out that all the build up of the variant that are worse then he who remains will be put to waste. The leaks for kang dynasty helped me cope how the kang story concluded

  Quantumania is what killed kang, imagine thanos lost to ant man in the build up to infinity war. Completely batshit insane decision. Jeff loveness is to blame here. Just straight stupid choice and a squandered opportunity to subvert the hero always winning trope

  So marvel basically wasted a good villain on purpose even tho they already had Dr doom and they just decided not to use him talk about self-sabotage all this could have been avoided if marvel was actually smart about these things but nooooo let&apos;s dilute ourselves into thinking that Dr Doom was always the plan sure 🥀😭

  Kang was literally set to be the next big bad, but Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania made him a tell-don&apos;t-show villain with vague motivations. He claimed to be a multiversal conqueror, yet he had the menace of a middle school principal. Him getting beat by ants and dying to Ant-Man, that ruined his credibility as a threat. And after the whole Jonathan Majors fiasco, the plot was scrapped mid-saga and replaced with Doctor Doom last-minute, making it feel like Doom might be a last-minute antagonist. <br> <br>I do hope Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars are still solid movies in their own right though, as credit where credit is due, RDJ&apos;s Doctor Doom is by far the most comic-accurate iteration of the character by a mile. He&apos;s not knockoff Norman Osborn, he&apos;s not a zombified Night King. He&apos;s the comic accurate sorcerer-king of Latveria.

  The argument that I hate when it comes to doom not being build up is, “Thanos wasn’t build up, he made appearances.” Like bro, those appearances are what made Thanos feel like he was going to be the big bad, I felt it when it was going to be kang, but was instantly canned by doom. <br>I’m happy we’re getting doom, but I fear they’ll use him in 2 movies, then kill him off or put him on the side as a, “yeah he was the big bad but now he’s a villain of the week type character”
